A lot of the wealthy and middle classes are safe, healthy, well fed. The poor are the ones suffering as usual, but a lot of it is swept under the rug, or the project of many a charity, or presumably shipped off to the Mars Colony. The global army may have something to do with as well. Not so much a trust as a show of force.
