[ so that answers his question. Ren and the Phantom Thieves' teenage rebellion was focused on societal reform, and the nasty adults who used people as commodities. that hasn't changed much, but needed to be redirected since he arrived. ]
Don't worry about it. And yeah, you could say that.
[ that story is always unbelievable and convoluted. changing the hearts of abusers and fascists in order to liberate others—the hows get a little strange, especially when he starts in about the talking cat. the Phantom Thieves were a mini-rebellion of sorts, sloppy and hopeful, all swords pointed at society's oversights. ]
So you ask questions, but do not like them in return?
[ nobody mention the pot and the kettle. ]
Rebellions are not easy and not one size fits all. Here, our biggest barrier in terms of government was the UNA, at least in relation to Morningstar as a Resistance movement. We have already severely damaged that threat, but we need to be watching this power vacuum. The UNA was not the only powerhouse.
This place is full of rotten adults, just like my world was. People who take advantage of other people who can't fight back, using them as a commodity. Yeah, it's familiar.
Children get caught up in the conflicts of adults more often than they admit. My planet was occupied by the time I was six. The people who cannot fight back are often some of the first targets.
Here is very familiar to me too, yes, lots of rotten people, filling out all the powerful corners.
I agree. We have been more decisive than Morningstar. It has not always helped and I think as an organization it has a long way to go, but I think there have been a lot of changes since we started arriving in this world. In a good way.

[ being unknown helped the him on his own rebellious conquest, and Ren's certain that it's helping them here, too. the whispers and turned heads regarding them is recent and and a patchwork of muddled truths, much like riding the train around Tokyo and listening to the rumors regarding The Phantom Thieves of Hearts. ]
Sometimes I wonder if we're being pushed that way.
I have always kept that idea in mind. That someone is waiting to see what we do. Whether they are simply watching us in observation or pushing us into situations and hoping we make good choices.
[ or bad choices. as to why they're actually here, cassian has always found it easier to keep the reason why open, preferring not to get hung up on one single theory of why. ]
[ Akechi had made it clear that when Ren said "using us" that it was past tense. "used us," he reminded him, because there was always an opportunity to turn the tables. ]

Any advice?

Unless you are referring to the situation here.

After everything that happened?
Yeah, I am.

I assume you have some experience of your own, given how far you have come already.
[ with the spinetail project, with akechi. it's his way of poking for a little more information too. ]

quite telling. ]
You don't always make that assumption, do you?
Jyn said you were an idealist.
I'm not out to pry anything out of you. Honestly, I kind of admire you.

[ admire...?? it takes a lot to catch cassian off guard. good thing this is text! ]
If we fall into cynicism, then what are we fighting for? I am just doing what I can to make things better here.
[ ren is not wrong about cassian's near constant suspicion though. paranoia has kept him alive. ]

[ but really ]
If you want to know what happened to me, I'll tell you. It's just a long story.

I admit I am curious. You do not seem like a stranger to what is happening on this planet.

Or just choices.

We could be an experiment. There are a lot of 'we could bes' out there to theorize about.
no subject
If we were used, it might be time to find out how to turn the tables.
no subject
What are you planning to do?
no subject
I'm planning on doing something not hinging on our own theories.
no subject
Yes, but is that a broad goal or do you have something more specific in mind?
