Not a problem. This seems to be happening a lot lately.

But what is a niffler?

A magical creature, of course. They're long-snouted burrowing creatures. Native to Britain, mainly, and terribly attracted to anything shiny. It's not just Robert, really, it's his entire species.

So Robert is like your pet. Is he here on board the ship as well?

Is Britain a planet? Sorry to ask yet another question, but I have not heard of half these things.

I wouldn't call him a pet, really. Perhaps a horribly rude boarder. No, I am joking, of course. About the rude part, not the pet bit. I don't consider any of them pets, you see. I'm not interested in keeping magical creatures as pets, I am interested in conservation and in gently educating my fellow wizards about them to better their circumstances.

Ah, and yes. He's in my suitcase.

What makes them magical and not just creatures?

A suitcase does not seem particularly spacious an animal carrier.

Well, magic, I should think. They all have some, in some way.

Oh, it's bigger on the inside. I wouldn't put them in crammed habitats, that would make me no better than a trader!

Definitions of magic could change depending on the universe one comes from.

Let me guess. Magical suitcase?

Of course. Spelled it myself.

You can use it yourself?

Naturally. I'm a wizard.

And how does that work here?

[zoion]

The same way it does elsewhere, of course.

There are a lot of elsewheres. I doubt they work the same in every place.

I haven't really come across a place where my magic didn't work the way it does.

And you have been to other universes?

I'm in this one now, aren't I?

That brings the count up to two, which is not a very large sample all things considered.

I would not call myself one. I just know how to work with data.

Yes, but I am not particularly experimental. I just gather it and use it as I see fit.

And how do you see it fit?

There is no one single answer to that. It depends on circumstance.
