I might suggest getting people on these councils who are more closely tied to the actual people.

There is an Alliance back home, and the high council spend more time squabbling with one another than getting anything done.

I think it is a good thing if decisions are made by more than one person. It prevents one person having too much power, doesn't it? But the quality of the decisions matters as well. Just because more people are making the decisions does not yet mean that they are good.

I agree. I do not support autocracy in any form.

Even in a group setting, you will find people who assume they still know best, people who often disregard what is best for the regular citizens. Something to look out for, should you get these councils for your kingdom.

There is an Empire that has existed nearly my entire life.

What of history spanning lifetimes? Are there records, in your world?

Depends on the planet.

The Empire would prefer only certain histories be told.

I know what it can do to a people, to have their history erased or tampered with.

[evasives]

All the more reason why it is important for those who can to keep it alive.
